Wondering about the organic eating lifestyle? Well here is some information to help you decifer what the differences are between organic and non-organic vegetables and produce. Organic vegetables are farmed without the use of synthetic pesticides or
chemical fertilizers which destroy the vegetable’s ability to produce cancer-fighting antioxidants. Organic vegetable farmers have to follow very strict hygiene and safety guidelines in order to comply with Federal, State and local health standards. In addition to following strict Government guidelines, certified organic farmers are inspected by a third-party to make sure that they are in compliance which will enable them to qualify for organic certification.
Organic vegetables are high in flavonoids which protect our cells from damage. This plant chemical is thought to be helpful in preventing cancer and heart disease and combating age-related neurological problems such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s. Flavonoids also protect the plant itself from insects, bacteria and fungus.
In studies between organic and non-organic fruit and vegetables such as corn and berries, the organic variety was found to have substantially higher levels of nutrients than the non-organic types. The minerals in organic vegetables are shown to have the potential to kill cancer cells or prevent them from spreading. According to researches, those nutrients could possibly help to increase the cure rate for cancer if they were to be combined with standard treatment methods. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
What is organic vegetables? Not only are organically grown vegetables better for your body, but there is evidence that the farming methods use to grow organic vegetables are much safer for the environment than conventional farming methods. This is mainly due to organic farming methods utilizing only chemical-free fertilizers and pesticides which can be released into our atmosphere and break it down. Organic vegetables also are said to taste better because of these methods.
